Professional Networking

Networking Event

• During the course of the semester, each student must attend at least one professional social gathering or event (e.g. gallery opening, professional association meet-up, conference, symposium, etc.) in order to meet other members of their anticipated professional / creative community. The goal of this exercise is to identify those organizations and events for professional networking and then gain experience talking informally to this community about the work that you do.

• Write a brief description of the experience as well as show some sort of evidence of networking with someone at the event (i.e. photo(s) of you at the event, photo(s) of you and people you met at the event, photo of business card(s) of people you met, etc.).

• Post in your google drive folder for this class in a file or folder labeled networking.

• Eyebeam Events

• HUGE Meetups in Dumbo

• Spotify Meetup

• Any meetup that interests you. Discover and Explore.

• Girl Develop It Events

Aspirational Contacts

• Make a wish list of aspirational contacts and why you want to meet them.

• Make it happen. Document successes and failures on an Aspirational Contacts file in your google drive folder for this class.

(OPTIONAL) Personal Board of Advisors

• Solicit a personal board of advisors.

• If you choose to do this, make a wish list of your personal board of advisors and why.
